Clinical Solutions Specialist (Medical Technologist)

Pembroke, Bermuda

About Lighthouse Medical

At Lighthouse Medical, we are dedicated to providing innovative clinical solutions that improve patient outcomes and streamline healthcare workflows. We are looking for a technical expert who understands the reality of the laboratory but possesses the commercial acumen to design systems, generate business proposals, and support a wide array of clinical environments.

Position Summary

Lighthouse Medical is seeking a qualified Medical Technologist with industry experience to join our team as a Clinical Solutions Specialist. This is a technical role that bridges the gap between clinical science and operational implementation.

The successful candidate will not only provide high-level application support but will also serve as a technical architect for our clients. You will be responsible for analyzing client needs, designing appropriate instrument/system configurations, and detailing these solutions through comprehensive technical proposals and quotations.

While rooted in laboratory medicine, this role requires the versatility to manage technical inquiries and design solutions for broader clinical environments outside of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Consultation & System Design

  • Collaborate with healthcare facilities to audit their current infrastructure and identify clinical workflow bottlenecks.
  • Design bespoke configurations where our products meet the specific clinical and operational needs of the client.
  • Draft detailed technical proposals and scope-of-work documents that accurately define the proposed solution.
  • Generate precise quotations and cost estimates, ensuring all technical specifications and necessary consumables are accurately captured.

2. Application Specialist & Client Success

  • Lead the post-implementation phase, including instrument setup, verification, and end-user training.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to troubleshoot complex technical or clinical discrepancies.
  • Assist laboratories and clinical departments in method validation and regulatory compliance regarding Lighthouse Medical products.

3. Cross-Disciplinary Clinical Support

  • Act as the primary technical resource for business inquiries extending beyond the laboratory (e.g., Point of Care, specialized monitoring, or general clinical workflows).
  • Evaluate and learn new product lines to support a diverse range of clinical environments as company offerings expand.

4. Commercial Support & Industry Feedback

  • Serve as the technical counterpart to the commercial team, ensuring that promised solutions are clinically viable and technically feasible.
  • Review tender documents and RFPs to ensure Lighthouse Medical’s technical responses are compliant and accurate.

Candidate Profile

  • Education & Professional Background
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related Biomedical field.
  • Certification: Current or prior certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) is required.
  • Able and willing to travel for training at our suppliers' locations
  • Able to legally travel to Bermuda through US or Canada.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of bench experience in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of vendor-side experience (e.g., Applications Support, Technical Specialist, or Clinical Consultant).

Required Skills

  • Proposal Writing: Demonstrated ability to write professional, detailed documents that translate clinical needs into technical specifications and pricing models.
  • Workflow Logic: Strong ability to visualize and map clinical workflows to determine "best fit" product solutions.
  • Technical Versatility: Comfort level in stepping outside of the laboratory discipline to understand and support other medical technologies.
  • Problem Solving: A consultative approach to customer interaction; you must be able to listen to a problem and engineer a solution rather than just provide a product.

English proficiency requirements

If you are an International candidate, either of the following is acceptable:

  • TOEFL: Total score of 75 or higher
  • TOEIC: Total score of 750 or higher

What We're Looking For

  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate complex information to clinical professionals.
  • High Drive & Resilience: Self-motivated, goal-oriented, positive attitude.
  • Learning Agility: A quick learner able to absorb technical product details and business strategies.
  • Professionalism: A polished, credible presence when representing the company.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Ideally, you have a license that enables you to drive a light van.
